Museum of Science & Industry Field Trips

Join us on a homeschool field trip to MOSI in Tampa!

What Does MOSI Offer?

MOSI features hands-on, inquiry based STEAM exhibits, including engineering, robotics, physics, optics, health and wellness, weather and space science. Students can lie on a bed of nails, build a robot, explore optical illusions, challenge themselves with hands-on brain puzzles, visit a lunar colony, and learn about planets and our solar system in the Saunders Planetarium. MOSI will have vending machines, but there will be no café on campus, so please bring your own lunches in coolers. We have a place for cooler storage and for our guests to eat lunch, but we are not equipped to store individual lunches.

What Does The Field Trip Offer?

1- A hands-on Interactive Lab, hosted by MOSI educators, & tailored to specific age groups and science learning goals:

Kid's Chemistry (K-2nd Grade)

Examine the states of matter – solids, liquids, and gases. Mix common household items to explore physical and chemical changes. Play with mysterious ooze that you create.

Totally Ooey Gooey Science Chemistry (3rd-5th Grade)

Take ordinary things and make slime that will ooze through your fingers. Experiment with physical and chemical properties of matter to create colorful acid/base reactions and reactions that heat up, cool down, or foam out of control.

Investigative Health (6th Grade & up)

Through hands-on stations (such as suturing, tools of the trade, and engineering) expose students to important health topics. Examine the heart, trachea and lungs of a mammal through dissection. Investigate how the heart and lungs work together to oxygenate and circulate blood throughout the body. Learn why interpreting an EKG graph is important for good health.

2- Planetarium Programs -
Starry Night
View the night sky from inside MOSI's IMAX theater dome, and watch an educational video on ancient myths related to the stars, planets, and sun.

3- Exhibits!
Following the educational lab and planetarium experiences, field trip attendees are free to roam and explore all of MOSI's exhibits.
